New Hampshire Porsche drivers know comedian and one-time Tonight Show host Jay Leno just as much for his car collection as for his comedic chops. There’s another major Hollywood player whose car collection, while not quite as well known, would make many a grown man weep: Jerry Seinfeld. His eponymous sitcom may not have been everybody’s cup of tea — we’re aware that people’s tastes in comedy can be widely varied — but we’d have to give the edge to Seinfeld’s car collection for one simple reason: for decades, Jerry has been a die-hard Porsche collector. That collection is getting attention thanks to three of Seinfeld’s classic Porsche models heading for the auction block this March.

Besides his Porsche collection, Porsche models have made appearances in the sitcom Seinfeld (on a poster that hung in Jerry’s apartment) and in his popular series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” The comedian explains that while he loves the cars, he’s putting them up for auction so that someone else can get the same enjoyment from him that he has.

And there’s no doubt that each of these cars will make someone very happy. First up is an all-original 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder. A four-cam racer, it’s expected to fetch 5 to 6 million dollars. The 1958 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster is a rare car (only 151 were estimated to have been built, and there’s no word on how many of them are still intact). Recently given a full restoration, its worth is estimated at two million dollars. Finally, there’s a 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 IROC RSR driven by Peter Revson for Penske. Its auction estimate is 1.2 million dollars.

The bad news is that we won’t have Jerry Seinfeld’s 1955 550 Spyder or his other Porsche classics up for sale in the Porsche of Nashua showroom. The good news is that it’s never too late to start your Porsche collection, and that if you buy with us, it won’t cost you millions to do it. Whether it’s a modern classic like the 2016 Porsche Cayenne, or if you’d like to start with a Certified Pre-Owned Porsche, we can help.
