After a short hiatus for the holidays, the annual round of auto shows is back in full swing. The Porsche brand exhibited at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show recently, and while there were no surprises, we’ve gotten a closer look at two key upcoming models. Both will be available to the public soon, including for the Danvers, MA drivers served by Porsche of Nashua.
The Porsche 911 GT3 comes in for a minor facelift, but also has some improvements to its powertrain. Since the Porsche 911 lineup started transitioning to turbocharged engines, some of us worried that this might spell the end of naturally-aspirated engines. Here’s where you can get your fix: the GT3 will have a choice of manual or PDK transmissions, and a re-tooled version of the 4.0 liter engine found in the Porsche 911 R and Porsche 991.1 GT3 RS. Output is expected to be roughly 500 horsepower, and we’re also looking forward to updated suspension.
Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo
With all the anticipation building around the 2017 Porsche Panamera, the model hasn’t gotten as much press here in the States. The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is expected to be more of a hit in Europe, where its shooting brake layout (think station wagon, but with the cool quotient cranked up to 11) is more popular. It looks very similar to the concept debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 2012, which is a good thing — that concept was nearly flawless, and we’re counting on the production model to follow suit. The estate/shooting brake/station wagon style isn’t quite as popular in North America, but if there’s a car that can change that, we’d put our money on Porsche AG to build it.
The Porsche Panamera debuts in March. It’s shooting brake variant is expected to arrive later, but company insiders insist that it will come to the States. No definitive street date is available yet for the Porsche 991.2 911 GT3. If you’re wondering, “Where is a Porsche dealership near me?” you’ll find plenty to love at your Porsche dealership near Danvers, MA.
